ASKING & GIVING SUGGESTION AND OFFERING TO DO SOMETHING 


Hii everyone. I'm Fitrah Zainal, ill explain to all readers about asking & giving suggestion and offering to do something. 

Definition of Asking Giving Suggestion 
Asking and Giving Suggestion are English phrases used to express how to ask and give advice to others. 


DEFINITION :
Asking suggestion is a way for someone to ask for device in english when they have a problem.
there are many expressions that can be used to ask for suggestion. one way to do this is to use the word "shall", which means next.

shall I / We + verb 1

examples :
shall we go home early?
shall i apologize to her?
shall i get a new job?
what shall i say to my parents?
in addition to the example of answering above using the word "shall", another example of answering to ask for suggestion is : What should I do? 
 Do you have any ideas?
     Do you have any suggestions for me?
 Can you tell me what I should do?
    Do you have any advice for me?
 Will you give me some suggestion please? 

DEFINITION :
giving suggestion is a way for someone to give advice to others by using english.
one way to give suggestion is to use expressions like :
 
You should + verb 1

examples : 
 You should…
 You need/ought to…
 You had better…
 You ought to…
 I think you should….
 I advise you to…
 I suggest you to…
 I suggest that you….
 I recommend you to…
 Maybe you should….

ACCEPTING A SUGGESTION 
when we agree and accept advice given by someone we can say :
sounds great
sounds good to me
that's a good idea
let's do that
i'm up for it

DECLINING A SUGGESTION

when we disagree and think the advice given is not good enough, we can say :
maybe some other time
i don't think it's good idea
i'm not sure about that

This is my dialogue with fitrah

Kelvin : Hello Fitrah, do you have a free time this Sunday?
Fitrah : Hai Kelvin Hmm, let me think for a while. I think I am free this Sunday What’s up vin?
Kelvin : Yeah actually I want to invite you to go to the mall.
Fitrah    : I’m sorry vin, I am not interested to go there.
Kelvin: Yeah I think so. Do you have any suggestion about another place?
Fitrah  : Yes, I do. Would you like to go to cinema? I heard that is a new movie.
Kelvin : Good idea. What movie is it?
Fitrah    : A romance entitled “Dear Nathan”. 
Kelvin : I’m sorryt  I don’t like romance movie.
Fitrah   : That’s okay vin . What do you think we should watch?
Kelvin : How about comedi movie?
Fitrah    : Nice idea. I like that kind of movies.
Kelvin : Alright trah, I think it is better for us to watch comedi movie because we both like it
Fitrah  : Of course vin. See you on Sunday.
Kelvin: See you Fitraaahh.


  • GIVING OFFER
some examples of expressions giving offers that we can use are as follows :

would you like + noun / infinitive

examples :
  • would you like a glass of orange juice?
  • would you like to go to the cinema with me?
example provides another offer:
  • can / may i help you?
  • what can i do for you?
  • may i give you a ride?
  • do you want more coffee?

ACCEPTING AN OFFER 
If we want to accept someone's offer we can say :
  • yes, i'd love to
  • sure, thank you
  • yes please, thank you
  • that's very kind of you
  • that would be very nice
DECLINING AN OFFER
when we reject an offer, someone refuses us gently and politely. for example we can say:
  • thank you for your kindness, but i can handle it
  • i'm sorry i can't
  • thank you, but i'm not hungry/thirsty
  • no, but thank you fo the offer.
oke next, example  my dialogue about offering to do something

Fitrah : Hi Kelvin, are you okay?
Kelvin : umm, I don’t think so Fitrah, I think I got runny nose.
Fitrah : That is okay Kelvin, let me help you. I can take you to the Hospital, so you can be treated and recover.
Kelvin : Is that okay Fitrah?
Fitrah : Yeah, for sure. It is not a big problem.
Kelvin : Thank you very much Fitrah, it is really helpfull.
Fitrah : Yes, no problem Kelvin
